Chief Executive Officer
A seasoned banking professional with extensive experience in retail and digital banking, they have held multiple leadership roles overseeing operations, strategy, and innovation. As Acting Vice President of Retail Banking (2019–2022), they managed day-to-day bank operations, ensured regulatory compliance, drove business growth, and supported executive decision-making through financial analysis and strategic planning. They also led budgeting, risk mitigation frameworks, and operational planning aligned with regulatory standards and customer expectations.
In this role, they played a key part in expanding financial access through branches, ATMs, agent networks, and digital banking channels, significantly growing the customer base and resource mobilization capacity. They contributed to major initiatives, including a UNCDF-funded remittance project, and provided strategic oversight for digital banking operations, agent distribution, and network management. Additionally, they supervised large-scale social cash transfer programs in collaboration with organizations such as WFP, UNOPS, and FH Ethiopia.
Previously, as Director and Manager of Alternative Banking Channels, as well as Manager of Branch Operations Coordination, they focused on driving digital banking adoption, improving operational efficiency, and enhancing customer experience. Their work included leading mobile and internet banking initiatives, managing agent networks, fostering partnerships with NGOs and government entities, and ensuring compliance with policies and regulatory requirements. Overall, their career demonstrates strong leadership in digital transformation, financial inclusion, and cross-functional team management within the banking sector.
